With 35,000 professionals, operating across 60 countries, Wood is one of the world’s leading consulting and engineering companies operating across energy and materials markets. We deliver innovative and effective solutions spanning consulting, projects and operations.
At Wood, we recognise that achieving a sustainable future is one of the biggest challenges facing our generation. It underpins all that we do. It is what unites us. We are led by our purpose to deliver solutions that transform the world.
Wood provides performance-driven solutions throughout the asset life cycle, from concept to decommissioning across a broad range of industrial markets including the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas, chemicals, power and process, clean energy, mining and general industrial sectors.
With our broad-ranging experience, Wood has a clear understanding of the challenges associated with achieving Net Zero and we are committed to enabling our clients to meet their decarbonisation goals and sustainability obligations.
Wood is focused on the outlook for the energy industry over the next 15 years using scenario planning to map alternative, future realities and building a diversified business to succeed. Our strong heritage in oil and gas combined with our expertise in alternative fuels, renewable power and industrial decarbonisation, ideally positions Wood to meet the needs of a low carbon future.
This is reflected in our strong renewables portfolio which includes solar, waste to energy, marine (wave and tidal) and wind, as well as our decarbonisation offerings – carbon capture, storage, transport, and a focus on hydrogen production and transmission.
We believe that a diverse range of technologies are required to fully address the Net Zero challenge, of which wave energy conversion is integral.
The WEDUSEA project represents precisely the type of difficult engineering challenge we want to be part of, and we are very proud to be a member of the consortium tasked with delivering the Ocean Energy OE35 wave energy device.
Our role in the WEDUSEA project
Wood is leading on three vital elements in the transformational the WEDUSEA project. We are the lead partner for verification of the all-important hull design and build. Secondly, we are leading on construction monitoring and quality assurance. And thirdly, Wood is the lead partner on system integration planning, coordination and management support.
All of these play to our strengths and experience as a company and we look forward to working with the rest of the partners on this exciting project as it sets out to prove the commercial viability of wave energy.
As a member of the United Nations Global Compact, Wood is connected to the global conversation on sustainable development and committed to helping deliver a sustainable future for generations to come. We believe that the WEDUSEA project will be a pivotal project with global significance, unlocking the potential of wave energy for the future. We are delighted to play our part in this and help to make the vision a reality.
